Report of Non-University Activities (RNUA)
- What: The tool used to disclose and request approval for outside activities which appear reasonably related or compete with your University responsibilities and sponsored or reimbursed travel when paid by any entity other than the University of Illinois
- Who: “Covered Individuals” as defined by the Policy on Outside Activities and Conflicts of Commitment and Interest
- When: Each academic year (new hires: within 30 days of the start date)
- Why: To comply with state law and University policy.
Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI)
- What: Training and an additional disclosure (Sponsor Specific Questionnaire / SSQ) required for research that’s funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Energy, NASA, and various other funding agencies
- Who: Investigators and research team members – Policy on Financial Conflicts of Interest in Research
- When: Prior to engaging in the research
- Why: To ensure that agency-funded research is not biased by an investigator’s significant financial interests (SFIs)
Disclosure Guidelines for Civil Service Employees
While our office doesn’t manage disclosures for Civil Service employees, you are still required to submit a disclosure.
- Per the VPAA website, “All civil service staff are required to submit an annual conflict of interest report, even if they do not have any conflicts to disclose.”
